Eco Church tip……Christmas across the POTR and other Eco Christmas tips

Christmas Present Swap & Recycling Christmas cards

The Eco Church team are holding a Christmas Present Swap on the morning of 4th January 9.30am – 11:00am in the Parish Centre. Bring along any unwanted presents & swap them or leave them to be donated to charity or make a donation for something you do want. Refreshments are available.

Boxes will be put in each church from 5th January for 3 weeks to collect Christmas cards for recycling

Christmas Cards  – in order to reduce the number of Christmas cards exchanged between ourselves, Eco Church suggests we send one card to the whole church family to be displayed on a special board in each church. This, of course, is not compulsory. For each card added to the board, a donation is suggested which will be sent to one of the charities to be supported by Eco Church activities – details to follow.

Others tips from the A Rocha Eco Church  website.

Avoid the drastic plastic of shop bought decorations – try making your own! Or go natural with pinecones and holly sprigs.

Buy fair trade items for your Christmas goodies.

Use fabric remnants as wrapping or use recycled brown paper and decorate it yourself.

See how many of your presents you can buy from a charity shop this year.

Give the gift of your time this Christmas. Make a voucher for babysitting, dog walking etc

Be conscious of how long you leave your Christmas Lights on for in the evening. Switch them off during the day. Using LED lights will save energy and also save you money.
